Knight Foundation, M+D partner to bring the NewCo festival to Miami’s shores
Miami is one of the key bridges to Latin America and a place of great diversity, in business and entrepreneurship as well as culture. Today we’re proud to announce Miami will become the latest city on the NewCo global tour, joining the ranks of more than 15 cities hosting NewCo festivals through early 2018. NewCo Miami will be held in February 2018.
Miami is the home of Knight Foundation, which is supporting the launch of NewCo in their backyard to further their goals of community and business engagement in South Florida. The goal is to foster a startup culture, open to the broader community, that helps make Miami more of a place where ideas are built.
NewCo Miami fulfills this mission by creating an innovative conference experience that promotes awareness of emerging local employment and business opportunities, and connects Miami’s growing entrepreneurial class with established businesses and budding startups.
Lead operators of the festival are Sean McManus and Brett Dobbs, founders of M+D, a firm that guides some of the world’s most influential media and technology companies on communications strategy, interactive content development, partnerships, and international policy. They’ve worked on content and conferences for Facebook, Bloomberg, World Economic Forum, Quartz, The Economist, and Salesforce.
Currently, the M+D team is building its list of target “host” companies and exploring industry tracks that map to the local market, including Global Finance + Fintech, Real Estate-Tech, New Media, Health-Tech, Tourism/Hospitality, and Fitness + Sports.
