Driving The Shift Towards a More Inclusive Country With Maya Rockeymoore

By

Maya Rockeymoore, Ph.D, is a respected policy expert, strategist, and a longtime advocate for social and economic inclusion.

Rockeymoore runs Global Policy Solutions, a social change consulting firm (and certified B Corp) that works with clients across the private, public, and non-profit sectors. Rockeymoore founded the organization in 2005, long before the “mission-driven” business movement truly started gaining momentum.

She also runs a non-profit organization, the Centre for Global Policy Solutions, a “think and action tank” that’s dedicated to crafting better public policy to support and empower vulnerable populations. The organization focuses its work around health, education, economic security, digital inclusion, closing the racial wealth gap, and more.

Growing up, Rockeymoore said, “I traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and abroad and witnessed how people lived around the world. I saw that there were haves and have nots everywhere, and I was particularly struck by how government systems and policies made a material difference in people’s lives.”

She went on to serve as the Senior Resident Scholar for Health and Income Security for the National Urban League, the nation’s oldest civil rights and urban advocacy organization. She has spoken and written extensively on jobs, the economy, Social Security, health equity, and more.

We’re pleased to have Rockeymoore join us for a session at NewCo Shift Forum, NewCo’s new executive conference covering “Capitalism at a Crossroads.” A core goal of the Forum is to bring people out of their industry bubble so big business, scrappy startups, and policy leaders can chart a new course forward together. Rockeymoore, with over 20 years working in government, business, and the non-profit sector, has the cross-sectional background and deep policy expertise necessary to bring a unique and valuable perspective to this conversation.

Rockeymoore will join a conversation convened by Fred Wilson, Managing Partner of Union Square Ventures, discussing the future of labor alongside John Bassett III, who runs the only wood furniture maker committed to manufacturing in the US, and Stephen DeWitt of WorkMarket. Rockeymoore has written extensively about social security and is focusing her current research on AI and automation, which will make for an interesting discussion given recent calls for universal basic income.

Joining 400 of the best minds in business, technology, and government, Rockeymoore will help us explore a new compact between business and society. We’re now accepting applications for delegates, and we’d love for you to learn more and apply.

Join us for the NewCo Shift Forum, where 400 of the best minds in business, technology, and government will come together for two days of focused, action-oriented dialog.
