Get Shift Done: Tips and Tricks

The thought of re-typing all of your meeting notes into Trello can be a bit daunting. And no wonder — it not only takes time aways from other tasks, it’s boring!

Well, good news — there’s a shortcut for copying and pasting the to-dos from your meeting notes into Trello while adding a new card with a description, all in one step.

First, open up the Trello board you want to add cards to.

Also, open up your meeting notes or to-do list. Mine are in Notepad but you can use any program you like, as long as it will let you copy the text you want for your cards.

Select the text that you want to turn into a card. The first line of text will become the title of the card. The rest of the text will become the description.

Copy the selected text by either going to the Edit menu and then selecting Copy, or by using the keyboard shortcut for copy on your computer (Ctrl+C on Windows, Command+C on Mac).

Next, go back to Trello. Under the list to which you want to add the new card, place your mouse over the “Add a card” text but do not click on it. Just hoover over the text:

Hoover your mouse over “Add a card…” but don’t click it

Once your cursor is over the text, use the keyboard shortcut on your computer for paste (Ctrl+V on Windows, Command+V on Mac). This will add the card to your list:

Open up the card by clicking on it. The title and description should be filled in with your copied text:

This tip makes it easy for you to add your meeting notes to Trello quickly and easily — and that’s a good thing.
